Growing Instructions

Sunlight: Full sun is best for vigorous growth, flowering, and fruit development.

Soil: Use rich, well-drained soil with ample organic matter.

Watering: Water deeply and consistently at the root zone, especially during flowering and fruit set.

Sowing Depth: Sow about one inch deep once soil has warmed.

Spacing: Space bush types about two to three feet apart and allow considerably more room for vining varieties.

Germination: Warm soil commonly supports germination in five to ten days.

Harvesting Time: Harvest summer squash young and tender; allow winter squash to mature until the rind hardens before curing.

Days to Harvest: Summer types may harvest in about forty-five to sixty days, while storage squash often needs eighty-five to one hundred twenty days.

Plant Height: Bush plants remain compact, while vining types can spread many feet across the garden.

Care Tips: Protect seedlings from cold, give vines enough room, and monitor moisture closely during fruit development.
