Growing Instructions

Sunlight: Provide full sun to partial sun according to species; young seedlings may need protection from severe afternoon heat.

Soil: Use a fertile, well-drained seed mix followed by deeper soil that supports unrestricted root development.

Watering: Keep evenly moist during germination and establishment, then water deeply as roots develop.

Sowing Depth: Sow about one-quarter to one-half inch deep unless the seed requires a species-specific treatment.

Spacing: Start in individual pots and transplant with generous long-term spacing appropriate to a tree.

Germination: Tree seed germination varies widely and may require scarification or cold stratification over several weeks or months.

Blooming Time: Seed-grown trees generally flower only after reaching sufficient maturity, often after multiple growing seasons.

Plant Height: Mature height varies greatly by species, pruning, climate, and available growing space.

Care Tips: Protect young roots, provide drainage, and allow time for woody seedlings to establish before final planting.
