Growing Instructions

Sunlight: Provide bright light to full or partial sun according to the species and local climate.

Soil: Use loose, fertile, well-drained soil that does not remain soggy around developing bulbs or fleshy roots.

Watering: Water evenly during active growth, allowing excess moisture to drain freely from the root zone.

Sowing Depth: For seeds, sow shallowly according to seed size; for true bulbs, plant at the depth recommended for the bulb size.

Spacing: Allow enough room for bulb clumps or mature foliage to expand without crowding.

Germination: Seed-grown bulbous plants can germinate in several weeks, though some species need seasonal temperature changes before emergence.

Blooming Time: Plants started from seed may require multiple seasons to build sufficient bulb size before flowering.

Plant Height: Mature height varies by species, from compact forms to flower stalks several feet tall.

Care Tips: Use excellent drainage, allow natural dormancy where required, and avoid excessive watering when plants are resting.
