Growing Instructions

Sunlight: Full sun to bright partial sun supports compact growth and abundant flowering.

Soil: Use loose, fertile, well-drained garden soil or a fine seed-starting mix.

Watering: Keep consistently moist during germination; after establishment, water at the soil line when the surface begins to dry.

Sowing Depth: Surface sow or barely cover the fine seed; direct sowing is preferred because poppies dislike root disturbance.

Spacing: Thin or transplant seedlings about eight to eighteen inches apart, adjusted for mature variety size.

Germination: Cool to mild conditions often give germination in about seven to twenty-one days.

Blooming Time: Most annual types begin flowering in the same growing season after seedlings establish.

Plant Height: Typical mature height ranges from compact bedding size to about three feet, depending on variety.

Care Tips: Thin seedlings in place, avoid overwatering, and minimize transplanting once roots begin to develop.
