Growing Instructions

Sunlight: Provide full sun to light partial sun, with cooler root conditions preferred in hot climates.

Soil: Use loose, well-drained soil with moderate fertility; lupines often perform poorly in heavy waterlogged ground.

Watering: Keep evenly moist during establishment, then water deeply while allowing good drainage.

Sowing Depth: Scarify or soak the hard seed coat, then sow about one-quarter inch deep.

Spacing: Space plants about twelve to twenty-four inches apart for mature leaf and flower-spike development.

Germination: Prepared seed commonly germinates in about two to four weeks under cool to mild conditions.

Blooming Time: Plants may flower in the first or second growing season depending on variety and sowing time.

Plant Height: Mature plants commonly range from about one to four feet tall, depending on species and cultivar.

Care Tips: Avoid root disturbance once established, maintain drainage, and remove spent flower spikes if reseeding is not desired.
